January 2012 Meeting

The January  meeting will be Wednesday, January 11 at the Hoover Library in Meeting Rooms A  and B downstairs.

This month's program will be presented by Sandi Boylan on the beaded ribbon fob - like she  made for the Christmas gift exchange.  The only thing you will need is embroidery scissors.  I have LOTS of size 11 beads and several different ribbons.  If you want to use or have your own special ribbon it should be between 7/8 inch and 1 -1/4  inch wide.Grograin or a tapestry ribbon work best.  To make the chatelaine and pincushion you'll need about 1/2  yard.  We will  just be working on the pincushion fob that attaches to the scissors. You'll receive enough ribbon and and beads to complete the project for homework if you so desire.  There is NO charge for the kit, you're helping me clean out my sewing area, .

We will have a wee care workshop for the February meeting.  More info to follow.

January Meeting

Our regularly scheduled monthly meeting is the coming Wed, Jan 14, beginning at 9:30. The meeting will be held at the home of Guild President, Darlene Graham. We will go out to lunch afterwards followed by a field trip to Martha's Heirlooms. We will have several options for lunch in Trussville and then can head directly over to Martha's.
I do not have a specific program planned for this month's meeting as we had decided that this year we would work on all those unfinished projects we have accumulated. However, Darlene will appreciate knowing if you are planning on attending as would like to set up chairs downstairs {in the huge, beautiful sewing room...} where the light is best. She will also have her sewing machines available if someone needs to do a bit of sewing on their project. Or you are welcome to bring your own. Also, please let Darlene know if you would like to come with us to Martha's as we believe Martha would probably appreciate prior warning if we will have a fairly large group descending on her at one time.
We can discuss lunch options at the meeting. The Trussville exit we would take to go to Martha's has fast foods, Firehouse Subs, Subway and John's Diner (a higher end option - Darlene has a copy of their menu for perusal).
